Rotary Seniors of the Yearby Raechelle Sandoval '18 Each year, a male and female senior are chosen monthly as Rotary Seniors of the Month; Almost every month there Rotary Senior are chosen, except for short months or months where the school and seniors are too busy. These seniors are picked from the top ten of their class. Seniors chosen for Seniors of the Month are then eligible to be chosen on Seniors of the Year. This year, those seniors are Kyler Edsitty and Destiny Touchine, currently first and second in their class respectively. This Wednesday they will be honored at a luncheon where they will give a speech. Following the luncheon, the seniors of the year will have an interview to determine how much money each senior of the year from the various schools gets for their scholarship. Destiny and Kyler had to work very hard in school and do extra-curricular activities to receive this award. Kyler is president of both NHS and Key Club, and Destiny is a captain on the dance team and treasurer of NHS. Both also accel in their multiple AP classes. We wish them both luck in their interviews and in their future endeavors. Breaking News! Successby Raechelle Sandoval '18 Gallup Bengal Drama presented the play Breaking News! On April 6th, 7th, and 8th, with great turnouts every night. The audience number was much larger than last semester’s performance of Steel Magnolias. The cast felt extremely good with their performances, and many of the audience members cast and crew talked to have said they had a great time watching.
The large turnout brought in enough money for the club to easily continue next year. The money raised from tickets will help the club to buy scripts for upcoming plays, as well as pay the expensive rights to perform the plays the club chooses to perform in the future. The club hopes to continue the growth of both viewers and participants in the club as time goes on. If you are interested in acting or helping backstage in upcoming plays keep an eye out for auditions and meetings. Even you don’t want to participate, the club hopes you will take time to watch out future performances.
